Biomet Receives Subpoena from Department of Justice, Antitrust Division
WARSAW, Ind.--(HSMN NewsFeed)--June 26, 2006--Biomet, Inc. (NASDAQ:BMET ) announced today that it has received a federal grand jury subpoena issued at the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, Antitrust Division, requesting documents regarding possible violations of federal criminal law, including possible violations of the antitrust laws, relating to the manufacture and sale of orthopedic implant devices. The subpoena requests documents from January 1, 2001 through the present date. It is the Company's belief that similar inquiries have been directed to other companies in the orthopedics industry.
